Just Back from Jeju: Here’s How My Skincare Held Up 🥵

Hey guys,
I’m back on Sonagi Skin Diaries after a little getaway.
If you’ve been reading for a while, you probably already know my favourite summer escape spot: good old Jeju Island. Jeju, an oval island that is only 45 mi east-west, and 19mi north-south, is located down in the southern part of Korea. Since childhood, it has been one of my absolute happy places to visit, but it gets so warm and dry this time of year. This time I knew I had to come prepared - I packed a handful of sheet masks for my four-day trip, so I could use one every night and share a few with my friends too.
As soon as I arrived in Jeju, my skin was inflamed from being out in the sun exploring all day. All I wanted was to lie down in a cold hotel room, switch the A/C on high, and put on an icy-cold sheet mask. I made sure to store my sheet masks in the fridge before using them as it makes the soothing effect 10x better. If you haven’t until now, go do it now. I swear by it, especially for summer travels!
When packing for this summer trip, I picked ones with ingredients to help skin bounce back from heat and sun. I focused on masks with instant soothing, with a hydrogel comfortable sheet, and includes calming extracts to help with redness and irritation. I also brought along our soon-to-be-launched Travel Glow Pack, which includes the yellow Biodance Vita Niacinamide Mask and the Frudia Watery Air Mask
I tried the yellow Biodance mask on my second night in Jeju, which was the day I had a rooftop BBQ. The sunset was gorgeous, but my skin was getting grilled right along with the food! And that’s when I knew I needed the deep, deep hydration to heal everything back to normal. The next day, I used the Frudia Watery mask after a long day at the beach to double ensure my skin hydration within 24 hrs. Even though the sun was strong, I could feel the masks helping to bring back my even skin tone again. Plus, it’s very satisfying when you peel it off and see how the sheet’s colour has changed. I can see my skin has soaked up every last bit of serum (and all that collagen is now locked inside).
But are sheet masks alone enough in this super hot weather? I didn’t want to overpack my skincare bag, so the mini Maehwasoo Serum & Cream Set was perfect for this trip. It’s lightweight for the summer, but leaves your skin feeling nourished without any stickiness - sealing in hydration from the overnight masks. Then I layered my SPF lip balm with hourly Cica Mist sprays (lifesavers!). The sun and salty ocean breeze can dry your lips out fast, but the lip balm keeps them protected. And of course, I carried my Cica Mist everywhere — whether I was out sightseeing or hiding indoors with the hotel A/C blasting, a quick spritz always kept my skin calm, hydrated, and comfortable.
The Travel Glow Pack are great travel-sized, easy to toss in your bag, and practical to use. It’s well thought out and includes what you don’t have for the summer trip, best of all toss it in all together! Remember to bring the mini serum and cream with you all day to replenish your skin, and at night, lock it all in with an overnight mask so you wake up with fresh, glowy, plump skin. All in all, this little routine made my holiday so much more enjoyable!
And I’m so excited for you to try the new Travel Glow Pack soon too — it’s my Jeju routine in a pouch, perfect for tossing into your bag for any summer trip.
